The gelatin silver printing process consists of several different stages. In this text I outline the usually needed first five steps when you start printing a negative in the darkroom.

Silver gelatin photograph – what is it?

When referring to silver gelatin photograph you may refer to both a film negative or a photographic print made by using a gelatin silver process. The technique has gotten its name of the fact that the emulsion used in both the film and photographic paper contains small silver particles, which darken by the light, thus creating the image.
