The exhibition, comprising of analogue photographs executed in several different techniques, explores change. Historical and geographical movements of water reveal pasts, potential futures and their disappearance. What do movement and flow look like to those who have no choice? What is it like to actively wait for a change that is inevitable?

Kolme katsetta tuo yhteen kolmen taiteilijan – Inari Krohnin ja tämän kahden tyttären, Katri ja Maija Lassilan – teoksia kiehtovaksi kokonaisuudeksi joka sisältää uusia maalauksia, grafiikkaa, valokuvia sekä lyhytelokuvan. Kolme katsetta kuvaa nimensä mukaisesti sitä, kuinka kolme taiteilijaa katsoo, kokee ja havainnoi maailmaa eri tavoilla. Katseissa on kuitenkin myös yhtäläisyyksiä. Näyttelyn teosten tematiikka liikkuu luontevasti luonnon, mystiikan ja maiseman aiheissa, sekä pienissä hetkissä, jotka asettuvat arkisen ja mystisen välimaastoon. Näyttely on avoinna 6.4.2024 asti.

Three Views brings along three artists of the same family, Inari Krohn and her two daughters, Katri and Maija Lassila. Exhibited is a fascinating combination of works including paintings, etchings, photographs and a short film. Three Views describes how three artists see, experience and perceive the world around them, all personally but at the same time in similar ways. The themes of the works move in the questions of nature, mysticism and landscape, and in the small moments of everyday. The exhibition is open until 6.4.2024.

ZRNO is an international festival of alternative photography organised in Skopje and Capari, Macedonia by a team of artists and photography enthusiasts. The festival’s main exhibition opens in the Multimedia Center Mala Stanica, within the National Gallery of Macedonia on June the 16th. The workshops are organised in Capari, near Bitola on July the 10th onwards.

Analog Mania Festival 2023 is part of the EU Culture Capital programme of Timișoara. The exhibition of the festival “Small Format”, presents a breathtaking selection of works in small and intimate format from artists representing many different medias and nationalities.
In the exhibition is included a group exhibition from Finnish analogue photography artists, all members of Finnish Darkroom Association and curated by myself and Natalia Kopkina.

Founded by Emil Kindlein in 2013, it presents historic and classic processes of analog photography, cinefilm film screenings and analog sound experiences in top art galleries of Timişoara. Khronos on kreikkalaisessa mytologiassa ajan henkilöitymä, joka luo ja jälleen tuhoaa. Topos puolestaan merkitsee kreikaksi paikkaa, mutta on sittemmin merkinnyt myös runokuvaa, metaforaa tai aihetta. Khronos & Topos - näyttely pohtii ajan ja paikan välistä suhdetta analogisen valokuvan keinoin.
Khronos & Topos -näyttelyn taiteilijat Jenni Haili, Natalia Kopkina, Patrick Kuoppamäki, Katri Lassila ja Taru Samola ovat Suomen Pimiötaiteilijat ry:n aktiivisia taiteilijajäseniä. Vuodesta 2018 lähtien he ovat pitäneet ryhmänäyttelyitä Tampereen Taiteilijaseuran Taidekeskus Mältinrannassa vuonna 2020, Helsingin Taiteilijaseuran HAA Galleriassa vuonna 2021 ja Vaasan taidehallissa 2022.

Khronos is the personification of time in Greek mythology, which first creates and then destroys. Topos, on the other hand, means “place”, although it has also meant poetic image, metaphor or a subject. Khronos&Topos exhibition ponders of ambivalent relationship of time and space through analogue photography.
Artists Jenni Haili, Natalia Kopkina, Patrick Kuoppamäki, Katri Lassila and Taru Samola are active artist members of Finnish Darkroom Association. Since 2018 they have had several exhibitions together, for example in Art Centre Mältinranta 2020, HAA Gallery 2021 and Vaasa Art Gallery 2022.

Ryhmänäyttely, jossa ovat mukana Jenni Haili, Natalia Kopkina, Patrick Kuoppamäki, Katri Lassila ja Taru Samola esittelee kokonaan analogisin valokuvatekniikoin toteutettuja teoksia Suomen pimiötaiteilijat ry:n aktiivisilta taiteilijajäseniltä. Näyttelyssä on esillä hopeagelatiinivedoksia, syanotypioita, tinatypioita ja käsintehtyjä taiteilijakirjoja. Näyttely käsittelee materiaalisuuden, ajan ja paikan suhdetta analogisen valokuvan kontekstissa.
In analogue photography group exhibition by Jenni Haili, Natalia Kopkina, Patrick Kuoppamäki, Katri Lassila ja Taru Samola are presented gelatin silver prints, cyanotypes, wetplate collodion tintypes and handmade artist books. Exhibition ponders the questions of materiality, time and place in the context of analogue photography.

Sesonkeja on monenlaisia. Kesäsesongiksi trimmaamme itseämme kuntoon, jotta olemme viehättävimmillämme uima-asussa. Talvilomat osuvat muutamaan viikkoon, jolloin sesonkitoimintaa voivat olla lumisia rinteitä pitkin viilettäminen tai palmujen alla löhöily. Parsasesonkina istumme ahtaassa ravintolassa kylki kyljessä syömässä jotain parsaversiota.
Tämän näyttelyn ajatus on kuvata sesonkien väliä, kaikille tuttua jaksoa elämässä, johon joskus jumiudumme. Voimme jopa ajautua vähäsesonkiseen elämään, esimerkiksi yksinäisyyden, vanhuuden, sairauden tai työttömyyden kautta. Se voi myös olla rauhan aikaa, jolloin lataudumme uuteen sesonkiin. Hyvän elämän kannalta on tärkeää osata elää sesonkien välissä.
Kaikki näyttelyn kuvat ovat pimiössä valmistettuja hopeagelatiiniovedoksia. Filmi ja hopea eivät digiaikana ole enää valtavirtaa, mutta taiteellisissa pyrinnöissä perinteiset menetelmät ovat ajankohtaisia ja ilmaisuvoimaisia. Hopealla on sopivaa kertoa näyttelyn sanoma: sesonki tapahtuu, sesonkien väli on.
There are many kinds of seasons. For the summer we trim ourselves in shape, to look our best in a swimming suit. During the winter holidays we may head to sleep under the palm trees or want to enjoy the snowy slopes and go skiing. During the asparagus season we will sit in a cramped restaurant trying out yet another asparagus menu.
The idea behind this exhibition is to show the times out of season, the moment known to all which we sometimes are stuck with. Sometimes we drift to the life without seasons, maybe because of loneliness, old age, illness or unemployment. It may be also time of peace and rest, in which we gather our strength for the upcoming seasons. For the good life it is important to know how to live out of season and in between the seasons.
All the photographs in the exhibition are gelatin silver prints, printed by hand in the darkroom. Film and silver are not mainstream methods of photographing in the digital era, but within the sphere of art, the traditional methods may offer contemporary and fresh means of expression. With silver it is fitting to articulate the message of the exhibition: seasons pass, but the time in between seasons exists.

The photo exhibition In Her Country – Village Photographer Hanna Heinilä presents a large selection of photographs by Hanna Heinilä, mainly from the 1910s and 20s. The insight of Heinilä’s amateur photographs, as well as the warmth and playfulness conveyed by them, have aroused great wonder among those interested in early photography in Finland. In many ways, Heinilä can be considered an art-historical discovery that expands the ever-diversifying understanding of early photography in Finland.
The curators work closely with Matti Luotola from Luvia, who has done a great deal of rescue work in tracing and digitizing Heinilä’s photographs. Photographic artists Katri Lassila and Päivi Setälä have been invited to take part in the exhibition.
In connection with the exhibition, the Rauma Art Museum and the village association Luvia Seor ry are publishing a photo book of Hanna Heinilä’s photographs. The publisher of the book is the small publishing house Parvs, which specializes in high-quality art books.
HAA-Galleria: Marras
20.10.–14.11. 2021
The exhibition Marras consists of photographic works produced by various analogous methods. In Finnish folklore, marras has signified, for example, the souls of the dead, soon-to-die people or signs of death, sometimes also the beings of the underworld Manala. Today, the word is mostly encountered in the word marraskuu (November). November is the month when the plants wither and nature falls to sleep for the winter. In their works, the artists of the Marras exhibition look extensively at the relationship between nature and human and the natural cycle, although some of the works in the exhibition talk more directly of the theme of death. The exhibition is partly held at the same time as the FLASH3 Biennale organized by the Finnish Society of Light Arts FLASH. The theme of the Biennale of Light Art this year is the connection between light and death.
The exhibition team includes Iina Gröhn, Jenni Haili, Natalia Kopkina, Patrick Kuoppamäki, Katri Lassila, Katri Naukkarinen and Taru Samola. The members of the working group are all active artist members of the Finnish Darkroom Artists Association.

Lapua Art Biennale is an art biennale concentrating on photography. It will be held for the second time in the spring of 2021. Lapua Art Biennale aims to challenge artists, photographers and shutterbugs from Finland and all around the world to reflect on our everyday routines through the art of photography.

The exhibit in Turku consists of photographs made with different analogue techniques. Apart from gelatine silver prints there are also litho prints and wet plate photographs. The artists in the group show are from the Finnish Darkroom Artists’ Association: Jenni Haili, Natalia Kopkina, Patrick Kuoppamäki, Katri Lassila ja Taru Samola. The goal of the group is promote the renaissance of analogue darkroom printing techniques in the digital era. Tue-Fri 12-6pm and Sat-Sun 12-4pm.
